NARCOS showrunner, writer, and executive producer Eric Newman is a film and television veteran whose film productions include the Academy Award-nominated CHILDREN OF MEN, Zack Snyder’s reimagining of DAWN OF THE DEAD, THE LAST EXORCISM, and BRIGHT. After over twenty years in the movie industry, Newman transitioned into television as an executive producer on HEMLOCK GROVE for the subscription-based streaming company, Netflix. His curiosity about the international drug trade led him to develop and executive produce his passion project, NARCOS, in 2015. Newman assumed showrunning responsibilities on the show at the end of its first season. Next up for Newman is the Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt film, PWR, which is also for Netflix.
Newman, a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, began his career working for Saturday Night Live as a production assistant. In 2002, Newman formed Strike Entertainment, an NBC/Universal based production company. In 2017 Newman formed Screen Arcade with producer Bryan Unkeless and made the company’s home at Netflix with overall deals in both features and television.
